Have you Ever Felt Really Happy?

It was Thursday the 12th April and I was just back from an overseas trip to Africa, Mozambique in fact. I had been working there before in Africa and it never ceases to surprise me just how blessed I am and have been throughout my life.

I have always been in relatively good health, never really been short of anything (except on short and rare occasions) and always more or less had everything I wanted. But let me tell you it has never really been enough until recently. Oh I know I am lucky compared to lots of other people who are financially much worse off than I. But there is something about life and people that seems a little futile at times.

You want more than you have all the time, know what I mean? You strive to obtain whatever it is at that moment, then you get it and almost straight away you want more. A better car, a better job, more money, more possessions, more everything; seems the more you get the more you want. I mean look at the pop stars and footballers. Lots of money but many of them never seem to be really happy. It’s true you know, money can’t buy you happiness. No it cannot. I tell you what can make you happy though, I mean truly happy and content. God – yes, that’s right, I said God.

Look at the things He promises for you. Love, forgiveness, care, fulfilment and wonderment.; of course, there is a price – well there would be wouldn’t there!!

This is the price – believe in Gods word and tell others about your belief. Repent and seek forgiveness from the one who made you. Think about that for a moment; if God made you He would want to look after what He made wouldn’t he?

Well, wouldn’t you too. Remember the last thing you made, the last job that you had been involved in? Weren’t you interested and keen to make sure it was used in the way you intended it to be?

Anyway, I digress. As I said I was just back from Africa on an assignment. Whilst there I had been praying each night and day for the blessing of the Holy Spirit - to be spirit filled. It has seemed so long since the times when I knew that God was with me; in the first few days of my Christianity (some 2 years ago almost now). I was constantly filled with the knowledge that God knew I was there and I knew He was there too. And I have been longing for that feeling again.

Well, I got it on the day I came back from Africa. I was just walking around my hometown of Ormskirk when the feeling came back to me. I felt elated, ecstatic and just plain happy. I knew God was with me again. I knew He had heard my prayers and requests and I just knew He had answered them again. Now that’s what I call happy. Know what I mean?

Or maybe you don’t know what I mean at all. Perhaps you are one of those strange people who believe there is no God at all! What a really strange world this would turn into if most people believed that there was no God. There would be troubled times indeed. Can you imagine what it would be like?

Wars, trouble at every turn, insolent children, people who didn’t care for each other, sex and violence everywhere you looked and God fearing people beginning to actually fear for their beliefs. Did you know we are there now, did you know that being a Christian is getting to be a little scary even in the United Kingdom.

It won’t be long now before I will maybe have to fight for my beliefs (I mean metaphorically of course).

Well, I am ready for that fight, and let me tell you why – because Jesus makes me happy, happier that anything else I have or do or want or need. And do you know why. Because He is my Saviour Lord and God; He is yours too. It really doesn’t matter how far you are from Him right now, or how bad you think you are or have been. No one is perfect (except for God) so you need have no fear at all if you want to be with God. Rest assured you will see Him one day soon, then of course you will believe, then of course it will be too late for any last minute changes to your plan.

I ask you to make those changes right now. Join the club of discipleship today.

“Roll up Roll up” – there is still time before the finality arrives. Membership is free, you don’t need a PIN identification code either.

Save your soul for Jesus before it’s too late. Time is running short and time is running out. If you want me to tell you how I know these things why not come to our fellowship* soon; I will be there, waiting for you.

I want to take you to meet my God – He makes you really happy!!

  1. Familiar words alas that I used to say to others as you do with such enthusiasm and zeal yet in the end I came to realise that they were nothing but hollow words.
